Hi I am looking to send my sister and her new husband away for two nights somewhere in Ireland. This would be my wedding gift to her so would like for it to be special. Travelling wouldn't be a problem. Hope someone can recommend somewhere! X

    have they any special interests?
like sports (golfing or walking break)
spa treatment relaxing break (cant go wrong here)
music or theatre (book tickets to a show/theatre/comedy)
Food (get a tasting experience in thorntons or similar michelin grade restaraunt in dublin)

    where are they based?

We went to the cliff house in Ardmore for 2 nights after our wedding, it's amazing. Dinner in the Michelin starred restaurant was included. The spa was fabulous too, sent a whole day there. It's pricey, but well with it.

    Cliff house is lovely.
I liked The Old Convent in tipperary as well.

I was going to suggest The Old Convent too. Or how about the 'G' in Galway?

The Old Convent or if she's into a spa weekend - Monart in Wexford is fab.

McNean House Cavan is supposed to be lovely, hard to get a reservation there for accomodation and dinner and it seems to be booked up for the remainder of this year. Dunbrody House Wexford, Park Hotel Kenmare, Sheen Falls Kenmare, 12 hotel Connemara,

my sister got us Blue Book vouchers as a wedding gift & we can't wait to use them! Also got MacNean which we were delighted with but the reservation process is difficult.

I have been to so many places and Doonbeg Lodge still tops my list by a mile!!!!! I stayed in a suite by the Courtyard....so downstairs is a living area and upstairs a stunning bedroom....golf course so it's nice and relaxed....you are treated like royalty as soon as you arrive. It's simply the most amazing place I've ever been to-hard to put into words, it's all about the experience-has an American feel about it. Food is amazing. There's a spa too and hotel provides a shuttle bus into the town to a seafood place and there's a pub next to it with live music.

MacNeal is amazing and would make a great wedding gift, they would have time to arrange to go for first wedding anniversary. Something really special to look forward to. We stayed for one night last December for my 40th birthday and it was a great experience and something most people would do as it is costly but well worth it.
