    hi all

Would someone be able to suggest a good expresso machine to buy my OH for a present. I have a budget of around €100 in my head. I don't know much about coffee only enjoy drinking it :)

My OH is a big coffee fan and we already have a grinder and coffee machine that makes beautiful expressos, lattes etc.

I was thinking of getting someone that makes nice expresso's but is portable enough to bring away on weekends away or other holidays.

    Thanks for the help.

    You could try an Aeropress..

I haven't used one but I've heard great things about them..

If you were willing to stretch your budget a little you could probably get an aeropress and a 12 month coffee subscription for not a lot more than 100 quid?

or you could buy Irish from CoffeeAngel! I think its cheaper (for once).

They have a cafe on South Anne Street which stock Aeropresses and loads of other coffee paraphenalia.

Aeropresses dont do Espresso shots. I have used mine for four years, although on the box it says espresso, it doesnt do espresso. Its fantastic for single cup filter.

Espresso for under €100 is really not doable. The only option would be a moka pot http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moka_pot

Not exactly portable, but I picked up my Gaggia Classic 2nd hand for €80. Might be an option.

Anyone has any comments about the ROK / Presso?

Might be an option, I am considering buying one for Work/holidays

    Costs around 110 pounds

I love the look/idea of those tbh. Very close to buying, would be interested in reviews.

Where are you going on hols? A country with no coffee? Surely you'd be going to try find the nice coffee places in said country?

I bought a de longhi ec 152 in DID electric for €99 in Jan. I'm not sure they're still made, but you can buy them on Amazon for £74. It's an excellent machine. It won't make super high end espresso, but it will produce good stuff once you know how.

My brother in law has this D'elonghi machine and loves it! Its on amazon for £99 and it has free delivery as Amazon is the seller. I've used it a few times and found it quite good. Might be worth looking into! They retail around €200 in the shops

I got the EC152 as a present 18 months ago and must say its brilliant for the budget. I dont get a chance to use it as much as I want due to work but when I use it it makes great coffee. I dont have space for a grinder so just use ground Lavazza coffee and works well for me so far.

When I buy a place in the next year or two I want a bigger machine and good Burr grinder but for the moment the EC152 has been great.
