Motor Tax Question ?

    I have a car that , broke down the end of last month and hasn;t been used since, i just noticed the Tax is up on it ,Now i wont be driving this car again as im going to get rid of it for scrap, do i have to notify the Tax office or the Garda ? now its parked outside my house on the road ,

    If it doesn't have a valid tax disc then I'd move it onto private property or driveway as technically you could be ticketed for non displaying of a valid tax disc as it is parked in a public place.

    If you are scrapping it then you need to get a certificate of destruction from the scrap yard. Afaik you will need to send this off to Shannon who will record the car as being scrapped and no longer being registered in your name, best thing to do is contact your local motor tax office around the exact procedure though.
