First things first, you need to decide how big you want it and how deep.
Pumps and filters are worked out on how much water you need to move.
Are you going to keep fish in it and if so what kind?
If you intend on keeping Koi, then it needs to be quite deep, 3ft at least, otherwise they will die in winter when it freezes over.
Are you going to have a waterfall?

Once you've got all that sorted, then you can start looking for pumps and filters.
Oh and a good quality liner as well.
Ponds normally have a shelf as well for putting plants on.

Getting a good balanced pond requires good planning and good money!
But the end result is well worth it.

    Good luck!

If you want a wildlife pond (frogs or newts) then you will need to have some shallow edges and sides,so that the various creatures can easily access and leave the pond as they wish/need to.

This is important for frogs and newts.

is that your own pond? did the newts arrive of their own volition?

also, do you have running water in the pond, or is it still?

small/narrow stream and slight waterfall flowing into the pond over in the corner.

Newts seem to have found their own way in.

    Joyfull creatures to watch.
