    Hi,

I have two quick questions for anyone who could oblige to answer:

    1) I recently qualified and obtained full membership with ACCA last August (31/8/2010). Can I start up my own business or is their some requirement that I have 5 or 10 years post qualification experience and

    2) Can I offer to do small nixers for say the likes of small sole traders and//or management companies or is there some requirement like I mentioned above required.

    Any help appreciated.

    Cheers

    Hi

You cannot hold yourself out as a provider of accounting information that will be relied upon by any third party unless you have a valid practicing certificate. So this will rule out preparing tax returns, sole trader accounts, limited company accounts, submissions to banks etc.

You may provide bookkeeping services such as completion of VAT returns and payroll as these do not constitute public practice.

Thanks I only read the requirements for a practising cert after I posted this.
Annoyed that you need to sit the Irish variants of P2 and P7 but ah well. I thought Irish GAAP was soon to be a thing of the past!
