Cigarette lighter socket

Where can I get a car cigarette lighter socket that I can fix to the vehicle and run off a different battery to the main battery?

I tried the local auto accessory shop but is all he had was a replacement type which didn't have any type of insulation around it and nothing to fix it to the car.

I see that there is a motorcycle one available but it has to be attached to the handlebars - and is "waterproof"!

Motor factor should sell 12v sockets, think i saw them in halfords too, but you shouldn't have to run them off a seperate battery.

Also they usually require that you drill a hole to fit them

Thanks, cletus; a big moror factors in Kilkenny did have one, so I thought they may not be too readily available.

I want to run my computer off it (I just got a 150 watt inverter) and don't want to risk killing the starter battery.

You could fit a bigger battery to be safe, but it shouldn't be necessary. If in doubt, have a booster pack, or at the very least, jumper cables.

Id say best bet is breakers, every car has one, shouldn't be any trouble finding one that pops out easy or with some sort panel and would cost only couple yoyosl, only trouble will be wiring the thing, but seems you know your stuff :)
