Accountancy/Taxation - chequered degree history

    Hello all.

I'm trying to change careers from science to taxation, as I am not at all suited to the former, I've discovered. :o

I've been accepted on to the PDA in Taxation at DCU, starting in September. I'm not worried about the course, but will have to be getting ready my milkround applications very early into the course, before I've even proven myself by way of exam results related to the field.

Looking around on Linkedin, I am daunted by the academic record of people accepted onto graduate programmes at the Top 20 firms.

I got 480 point in the LC, and eventually got a 2.1 in my TCD undergrad degree. I say eventually, as it took six years, and my results were terrible most years, due to suffering a serious illness throughout my degree. I suppose this means I have an "excuse" but I'm just afraid that I will still be judged on my college performance, despite doing well in the end having come through illness, like it will put some doubts in their minds or something. They need to know that the people they choose have the ability to do well in the professional exams.

I guess I'm just wondering what other people's experiences are of applying to these programmes with less-than-stellar results?

Hello, I'm just wondering did you go ahead with the P.D. in taxation, in the end?
    If you did..
I am interested to know how you find the course, having not come from an accounting or law type background?
I also haven't studied in those areas and am questioning whether I'd be able for it. (I am finishing a maths/ economics degree this May.)
So i'm basically wondering is the content heavily accounting based? And any other general info you have on the course coming from a student perspective.
    Thanks :)

Their account is closed, so I don't think they'll be responding.
