As I was on my way to work today, I was stopped at a red light on a crossroads, the filter for the way I was headed went green and as I pushed off the car that was behind me overtook me, on my left which was actually undertaking at the junction, he clipped my front wheel which made my bike and me hit the ground!! The Audi driver just drove off, but not before I got his <snip> reg! Just wondering if I can report this incident after the fact??

Yes you can... You certainly cant report it before the fact. :)

Any witnesses or CCTV that might have captured the incident?

Definitely, and there are probably cameras at that junction so report asap, also witnesses if anyone was around and spoke to you.

    Absolutely, hit and run.

Make a report to the Garda station local to the scene and if there are any shops, etc around see if their CCTV cameras capture the junction. With only your word, he'll probably just get a caution, but if there's footage he can be prosecuted. CCTV will often be overwritten overnight, so you should check this out today before they close.

I would recommend removing the reg no from your post.

Take the reg no to the Guards - do not quote it here

    Thanks

If you were involved in a Road Traffic Collision it should be reported to the Garda ASAP. Report it as a failed to stop after an accident and leave it up to them if they take it up - get a reference number either way in case you pursue a claim against the driver.

You need to write down / report exactly what went on - the chain of events leading up to / during and after the accident. The more information you have it will help the police and your claim (if you make one against loss / damage etc)

Were you injured? If so (and to be honest even if you think you weren't) worth getting yourself checked out.

Any damage to the bike? Get it checked

    Any CCTV / witnesses?

    Are you alright?

Unless there's matching damage to bike and car.

What I ment in after the fact was does it have to be immediately while I wait at the scene or a short time afterwards? There are no cameras in that area, it was on a road beside the runway at the airport! Not a lot of damage done to me or my bike, scratched hand and some paint! Thank you all for your advice and responses!!

As soon as you can. The sooner the better, but no it doesn't have to be immediate. In some cases that simply isn't possible.
