    Hey,
I know there's an Amsterdam thread, but I don't want to wade through ten pages just to get a few tips! Am going in a few weeks for three days, and just want to get some tips on what to do and see. I want it to be a chilled few days, so not going to be rushing between every tourist site in the place, but would like to catch some of the worthier ones. So any suggestions? Preferably from those who've been there. Quirky suggestions appreciated!

Drink good beer in this locals bar http://www.arendsnest.nl/

Book online well in advance and have a great traditional Dutch meal here http://www.moeders.com/

The train station in Amsterdam is packed with tourists going home on a Sunday morning, buy your ticket on the day before.

if you're going to do the anne frank house then buy your ticket online in advance and then just walk past the massive queues outside!

theres a restaurant called cafe loetje down in the museum district, best steak i've ever had!

The Heineken brewery visitor centre is fun if you like beer, and the beer is delicious (I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole here, but in its home country it's fantastic).

Have a leisurely stroll around the red light district as well, it's fun and very safe.

We were self-catering last time we were there, however for delicious fast food I recommend Maoz - chain of falafel/ pita places, yummy, especially the salad bar to which one proprietor insisted we help ourselves to more if we liked! I wish we had them here.
