Driving Galway to Lusk Friday the 5th July with my buddy. Want to get a round in in the afternoon. Budget €25- each. Have Open Fairways card. Links would be a nice change.

    Played New Forest already.

    Thanks guys.

Corballis is a links course not too far from Lusk. Haven't played it myself but it looks decent enough

Ill second that shout. Great course and great value. Not the longest but you'll get some great practice with iron play.

Tip if you play: hit a 6 iron on the second tee to top of hill!

Front 9 great, back 9 - terrible. If course is busy, you could be waiting a bit - too many cross-fairways - just my two cents.

    Any other offer then?

No - haven't played any other courses in that neck of the woods.

    9 iron

Was just about to say the same. 6 if you are going for the green ;)

Did I say a 6? Erm Ehm Silly me I meant to say 9 I promise.

The only time I played it I hit a hybrid and was in the 'ditch' that's all I know.

If it's a Friday, Mullingar are playing their opens on Fridays. 20 Euros for visitors. Course is in cracking condition and greeens are fantastic. At least they have been recently .

About as far removed from a links as you could get though, but about half way through your journey and you should be able to get a tee time if you book it well in advance.

<EDIT> Woops, just checked there and there is a club classic on that day in Mullingar. No open. On that route from Galway to Dublin you'll also have Moyvalley, even Palmerstown house, Rathcore, Athlone, Moate. Given their location in the middle of the country though....none of them links :-) </EDIT>

Nice one bro. Links would be cool for a change but somewhere nice is the main thing.

    Esker Hills maybe??

In for a treat there. It's a good walk mind you :-) Maybe stretch the budget a bit and hire a buggy. There's some cracking hills (and holes) on the way around !!

Moyvalley is an option also on the old Galway-Dublin road so you'll avoid the rip-off M6 toll. Not sure of what the condition is like but it has a links feel to it and should be got relatively cheap, cracking closing few holes in it also.

I'd say hit an 8 or 9 to be safe.

    Edit - already been said

Job done. Great course. You won't regret it

Portmarnock Links is the only links in Dublin bar Corballis that is near your budget. Think they are around 40. About 20 mins out of your way from Lusk. Roganstown would be another option. U could also try Carton house if the 5th is after the Irish open.

Played St Margarets the other day which isn't too far out of your way and it was beautiful

    Delighted to hear that...

They must have made some turnaround since the winter. I played there back in early November and was genuinely shocked as to how downhill it had gone.

Vowed never to go back it was so poor.

    I'd play New Forest again:)

Played there yesterday for the first time and absolutely loved it.

    CRACKING TRACK

I'd play it everyday if it was in the same condition as last week. Even though I was playing some horrible golf(as usual) I really enjoyed the course. The Par 3s are all so well laid out and the Par 4 18th is probably my favourite hole.
