If your looking for koi there's going to one name top of everyone's list and that is Chris Cooks, in White Dragon Tattoo in Belfast long waiting list but worth the wait.

Really for a Japanese style piece? Looking at his portfolio he has one Japanese style piece in his whole portfolio so I wouldn't be thinking it would be his forte.

Behind Chris Cooks if your not prepared for the long wait, have a look at Joe Myler working in J.M.D's in Waterford.

Rob Mulligan in Colourworks is worth a look in too.

I know Paul in Spilled Ink said lately that he wants to do more Japanese work. His work his deadly you should check him out on the Spilled Ink facebook page. Their prices are fair and they're sound guys in there

Plenty of artists in Ireland have won awards here and abroad ;). Of coarse taste in artists is subjective but maybe take a look at some other artists in Ireland.

For me personally Zulu do have a good rep and rightfully so but there are studios and artists in Ireland putting out better work than I have seen come from Zulu.

I only recommended Zulu as I found them brilliant when I got my sleeve done. Yea look around different artists as you might find someone who suits your taste in designs, do research, don't rush into it.

What is the tattoo like that you're covering?

I like Zulu, Sean there did my favourite out of all of my tattoos, but I wouldn't recommend them for a Japanese style like a Koi fish, as I don't think any of the lads in there specialise in that style.

In Dublin, I'd look at Paul in Spilled Ink, but really, Chris Cooks is your man, if you're willing to pay a lot and wait a lot. :)

its my name in black letters 4" long on lower arm 1st tattoo ( drunken mistake)

I've seen a Japanese sleeve redone by Rob in Colourworks and it was deadly, massive improvement on the original artistry.

It may require laser removal, pick an artist go have a consultation and see what they say.

But if your planning on leaving it a while it might be a good idea to get some laser removal sessions while you wait.

Sure you're opening your own shop I hear. You could just get it done there.

Not being a d*ck and I think someone setting up their own studio would surely know some artists already.. but that's not really answering his question in this thread and comes across pretty rude
