Brake Pads that do not turn into grey sludge?

I have Swisstop Green pads on my bikes and after a particularly wet and windy sportive in Clare this Saturday my bike was covered in grey sludge from the pads. They worked well though on the numerous scary moments and managed to lock my back wheel several times (running my tyres for 'just one more spin' was a mistake, though they didn't blow out).

Does anyone have a recommendation for pads that don't turn into this mess on a wet day please? (I use Sram Force and Rival cartridge brake shoes on my bikes)

There are none. Swiss green are by far the best pads. There are just levels of grey sludge and you're at the bottom, you just don't know it.

We'll all be using discs soon anyway.

Thanks for that. They are normally ok and I guess that Saturday was just bad, really bad. The whole bike was a complete mess. At least they work well!

The SwissStop FlashPro BXP are allegedly better than the green, I haven't personally tried them.

All of east Clare and most of north Clare are limestone areas so the surface water has lots of calcite dissolved in it.

And the roads are surfaced with shards after looking at the holes in my tyres. Thank you Germany for putting polyx breaker in my Conti tyres and keeping the inner tubes in while I slid down the road, and thanks to the lads from the Cycle 4 Sick Children Club (top respect) who heard my screams and niftily got out of my way.

I don't know about that, I had heard too many good things about them, but for me, the swisstop green and the original campag pads were much better than those salmon ones.
