Not enough hot water?

Does this sound like a problem with the immersion or are we just not turning it on early enough ? Husband gets up at 7.30 and turns it on to bath. He jumps in shower at 8.15 (crap older pump shower with bad pressure) and I get in brand new pumped shower (deadly pressure) at 8.30 with immersion still going, I run out out hot water after about 7 mins...

Its probably a combination of two things, the newer power shower is using more of the hot water quicker than before, and the reheat time is not long enough. It could be a larger cylinder, or use the gas or oil boiler to heat the water instead, as it would generally be quicker, and cheaper than using the immersion.

have just replaced y water cylinder with a new lagged type. A new pump for the shower - the radiators flushed out and refilled and bled with new valves on every radiator. There was hot water for the first two days and but this morning there was not a drop of hot water in the tank. (Use Gas to heat the water) The rads heat up but not the tank. WHY? I did not change anything. Plumber on holidays and immersion disconnected. HELP!

You tell that to my wife and two daughters!!
I'm in and out in jig time.

Plumber came and sorted problem. Leaking radiator caused air in system.

What's that got to do with lack of hot water in the cylinder?

AirLock in the cylinder would mean no hot water heating the hot water cylinder.
Coupled with no immersion means no hot water.

7mins in pumped shower is more than a bath full of water.
Unless you upgrade your cylinder, the standard one wont handle that and then another shower soon after.

I have an air leak in my system and rads are hot but the tank won't heat water. I can hear air rushing around. Plumber on holiday too...

Airlock would not stop the immersion heating the water in the cylinder. If there was an airlock in the coil, it would only stop the oil/gas heating the water but that was not the issue here. The OP was heating with an immersion.
A leaking rad would not stop an immersion heating the cylinder.

There should be an air vent off the top pipe (flow) to the cylinder coil. It will have a screw on lid. Open this & see if the air releases from the coil.

the person with the air lock was not the op ;)

I know. You mentioned airlock about the OP & then a second poster said they have an airlock. I answered their query separately.

no, I explained why an airlock was causing the problem for Hoarej85 after you asked them what had that got to do with it.
I explained how an airlock prevented the cylinder from heating.

perhaps you missed a few posts on the thread?
