Missing molars - options?

    Hi,

    I'm looking for some advice regarding replacing missing molars and I'd be very grateful if anyone could help:

    - I am missing two rear molars bottom left jaw (according to chart: 17 & 18)
    - Tooth 19 has a crown and root canal.
    - Tooth 20 is missing.

    What would be my options for replacing these missing teeth? And which would be the best - most effective - option?

    I intend to visit my dentist for a comprehensive consultation, but would like to know what my options may be at this stage.

    Many thanks for any advice, it's much appreciated.

    Only a dentist who has examined you could make any meaningful recommendations.

    Thank you for your response Georgieporgy.

    I figured as much, it's just I have recently moved country and as such have to find a new dentist and more importantly one that knows me and that I have developed faith in.

    I thought I might be able to get some initial indication of whether I'd be looking at dental implants or a bridge or a combination. Although I appreciate I'd need a full examination for any proper recommendations.

    I googled it but there seems to be a plethora of options and varieties, and to a layman like myself, it can be overwhelmingly confusing. For example, implants in all missing teeth, a couple of implants with a bridge, etc.

    Would there be any websites or resources available that give a fairly plain overview of the different types of teeth replacement options (obviously not what I'd specifically require, but an overview of the various products) - implants, bridges, etc - and the strengths and weaknesses of each?

    It's not so much whether an implant is better than a bridge etc. It's more about the state of your mouth that will determine the appropriate remedy.
    That depends on lots of things like
    1 your age
    2 how long have the teeth been missing
    3 what are the opposing upper teeth like, all nice and straight or perhaps they have moved a bit since you lost the lowers?
    4 Oral hygiene, periodontal health.
    5 are you a smoker? alcoholic? diabetic? etc etc
    6 are you a bruxer? ( I'm being technical I know :))
