    Hi all

Hope that someone here can help as I haven't a clue myself. Well, I've got a 2002 Seat Ibiza 1.2 12v and am looking to get a roof rack for it for transporting my kayak.

The manual for the car has only a tiny bit of information on roof racks - mainly pointing to the Seat dealer to install it. As I've spent quite a bit of money on the kayak, I couldn't afford to get it from the dealer.

Does anybody know what type of rack would go on my car and what sort of price I'd be looking at?

    Thanks

    John

Halfords might be worth a try. Guessing under €100

Had never heard of those before but it looks perfect for what I need - only be travelling a couple of miles so no real need for big pricey stuff

    Cheers :)

Fanadman guessing from your name your based in Donegal? The rack is called the handirack I just got one myself last week, and they are the job as long as you bear in mind that because it is sitting directly on the roof of the car you need to make sure that the roof doesn't buckle when you load on the kayak and also that you may get minor scratches on the roof if its not completely clean, I've gone some way to solving that by getting one of them foam camping mats and cutting it in half and putting the rack on that on the roof

Yeah, am in Donegal :) Been looking at some videos of the handirack and it'll be just the job. Won't be going more than a couple of miles with the kayak on the car. Have plenty of that foam so will cover the roof :-D

The kayak is 35kg so not all that heavy and as is 14 foot long, the weight should hopefully be spread out quite evenly....fingers crossed lol.

    Hi Fanadman
Did you ever get a rack ? If not I have a roof rack for a Seat Ibiza lying in the garage and I won't be too sore on you.Had it on my 00DL.I live over the road in Termon. And while I'm here, you don't happen to know the name of the guy who does the aluminium welding in around Leatbéag at the end of the bridge to nowhere,OK the Harry Blaney bridge:)

Got sorted with a rack - thanks anyway.

Will ask around about the welder. Think I know of the guy you mean. Will try and get his details and will PM you later.
