Just heard from someone that the government are looking at paying the dole back into the bank just like they did a few years ago. Think its something to do with cuts as their looking at closing post offices or looking at taking away the costs of paying into the post office. Can anyone confirm this and if so, when will this take place. TBH i think its a good measure for me personally so i dont have to drive to the post office and que up to collect it but would it not just go back to the foreign nationals flying over to sign on again like they used to do before this measure was introduced.

It's not just foreign nationals flying over, there might be Irish lads/ gals who maybe working abroad too, a couple of months ago there was a lad from Kerry who was working in Thailand while receiving the dole!.

Well there would be a cost saving having it paid into the bank but it does pose problems. People would be flying in to collect their dole and heading off to live or work in another country. So whilst it would save money in one way it would cost money in another way. Unless they plan to make people sign on weekly is the only way around paying it into the bank.

That would just cause more hours in the dole offices and spending more money on jobs to look after the influx of dole people to there offices each week.
