Hi I have a contractor building our house and when I called out on Friday, they had put the normal plasterboard, not the green aqua ones in the bathrooms. They told me that they can still make it all waterproof. Is this correct, or should I make him take it down? Thanks

You are correct the green board is generally used in wet areas its just good practice.

However if all walls in the bathroom are being tiled from floor to ceiling height then you may get away with it as the tiles when grouted will form a seal

Got a refurb on the horizon with the main bathroom being the most urgent item on the list. I'm considering using cement board and tiling over that. The moisture/water resistance of cement board is apparently much better than greenboard. Has anybody got any experience of using cement board and any product/supplier recommendations.

Nobody should be aiming to "get away" with anything when building/renovating.

What is specified in the contract documentation?
That's whats been agreed upon, that is what should go in.

Probably wrote in the wrong context granted but I assure you I wasn't coming from a cowboy hat wearing contractors view but from a value engineering point of view
