Sorry, what have i missed that Gus jumped Machida for a shot?

He missed his last fight against Mousasi ffs.

Lyoto shafted for his (fairly earned) title shot yet again.

What happened was Jones didn't want to fight Machida because he choked him out cold in the second in their fight. Him and Gus were I think out in Russia but were going back and forward on twitter. Jones told Dana, he didn't want to fight Machida and he wanted to fight Gus.

Dana couldn't say no to that. Gus did get him a big one on a national audience in December.

The UFC is a profit driven company, that's just a fact. It is much easier and much more profitable for them to sell a fight against Gustaffson than a guy who Jones decimated in less than two rounds

In fairness I wouldn't say Machida was decimated,

He won the first round imo and was caught with a punch leading up to the sub cause he had blood in his eyes.

Machida is a beautiful fighter and it's retarded the abuse he gets on forums.
"All he does is avoid getting into a confrontation" - surely not getting hit in the face is a good thing?
Hendo being his deplorable self called out Machida in his post fight against Rashad and i found it horrible what a sore loser he is.
Machida avoided everything from Hendo, took him down, and kicked him in the face a few times.

Lyoto is a great fighter, Jones is just so dam good. An he has that nasty looking finish against him which makes a rematch hard to sell at the moment. I think that it's good a new challenger gets a shot.

At times lyoto can come close to the fine line that is being elusive and avoiding fighting. I love watching him for the most part though , and would like to see a rematch between him and bones. I think he can be competitive , but winning is another thing.

Hasnt lyoto also twice turned down a fight with jones too?

    !

Machida might have arguably won a single round, but there's no denying he was decimated!!

I'd be more interested to see Glover fight Jones than Machida or Gus. Although they will prolly all be beat by him. :/

Glover's a walking punching bag tbh. Can't see him getting anywhere near topping Bones.
Nohopers like Maldano and Rampage were hitting him very clean, Bones will open him up badly with some elbows I'd warrant.

Machida V Hendo was a horrbile clash of styles but I agree with everything above.

That first round was the best anyone has looked V John Jones. It was an excellent finish by John but the fight was closer than many people think.

Excited to see how the Gus fight pans out, interesting to see how Jones attacks this one.

Not overly concerned its not Lyoto, he will get his shot

Machida could beat Jones. I don't think he WOULD, but he could.

But the rest? I honestly don't see ANYBODY getting even close to beating Jones. He'll beat Gustafsson all ends up, I just don't see where he's better than Jones.

And then there's Hendo, Davis, Glover, Rashad, Shogun, Bader, Lil Nog...... who out of these guys gets close to him?

And it's not as if it's an average list. It's a list of beasts! But Jones is that good! Imagine what he can do if he keeps fit and strong. He's 13 years younger than Anderson Silva!

I was hoping Dan would fight Jones immediately after his return to the UFC. One last mega fight for the belt V Jones could have brought something outta of Hendo.

Unfortunately Dan has now confirmed status of the ‘hasn’t got a chance’ brigade.

    Gusto is getting destroyed.

He is very good but he's a lesser fighter in every department. He's in trouble because he's going to unleash the beast in Jones - because his reach will make Jones engage in a way we haven't seen yet. Jones will not sit back and use his range and magic hands hypnosis - he's just going to annihilate him with superior technique and power. I pity the fool.

I'm not writing off Glover but I don't see him doing it either... his only chance is with an early unsweaty sub opportunity from a Jones mistake. He's better than Gusto but too short, like everyone else.

The Dragon is actually faster than Jones WHEN he's fizzing and at his best. Jones requires something special to take him out - Machida has it. I'd love to see them fight again.
