Not so much awkward as recognising them is an awful chore.

    That's rubbish.

Every father I've ever had was good to me in his own way the bunch of flawed bastards.

No, my father is extremely ill with very little chance of recuperation (after a freak accident) so these bull**** holidays designed to sell crap become more vacuous, trivial and insipid than ever so I'll find it awkward too.

Its not actually a day designed to sell crap. The crap sellers just hijacked it. Around the world it is celebrated/honoured on different days. In its simplest form, it really is just a day to look at your Dad and say thanks, if he's worth it, because I understand there are some wanker dads out there that should rot in hell or your version of it.

Lots of money will be spent. Dads will get drunk. Maybe even smack the head of the missus and terrorise the kids. But then there will be more sensible stuff. Furthermore there will be dads that despite their best intentions, won't even see their kids. Its really a crazy day. All I can say as a dad, is do whatever you feel the need to do and forget about it being an earner for the card companies. It didnt start out that way. In an innocent way, there is nothing fundamentally wrong with paying special attention to your dad alive or dead on a certain day of the year. Just try and do it everyday. A bit like valentines day....you don't necessarily need it to show how much you care and appreciate that special someone.

Got an hour's sleep in this morning, then woken up by my kids with a bag containing a few sachets of coffee I like, a bag of pistachio nuts, and a beer, and a handmade card telling me I can do whatever i liked today (a blatant lie as they were begging me to take them somewhere an hour later).

    Nice.

    I just don't get it,

some single mom's on Facebook have already started "dickheads who don't deserve to be a dad" bashing,

funny thing is one mother (not on my friends list) commenting in support of a "today celebrate single moms doing a double job" statement is only a single mom because she used hit and abuse the boys dad until he for his own safety fled and hasn't been able to win custody of his son without proof.

    its disgusting.

you don't ever see mother bashing posts on mothers day or single fathers saying "today is my day too because im double jobbing it"

Happy fathers day to my dad who's made some incredible sacrifices for me and my siblings - love you man!

Spare a thought for a lot of dads who, because of the 18th century legal system in this country, won't get to see their kids today. Hopefully some day we'll get a justice minister who actually gives a damn. Its as big a crime as any of the stuff coming out now about state sanctioned abuse.

And hopefully across the water David Cameron has learned his lesson and will keep his big fat gob shut this year :)

The c**t that is my sons mother gave the Father's Day card to her latest infatuation instead. Although at least I have my young lad for the day.

A big F**K YOU to the judicial system with their "in camera" courts that allow them to treat fathers like shït and get away with it.

And to the witches that use their kids to punish their ex's..F**K YOU too.
    Your day will come!!

Father's Day is little more than a yank exercise in forced spending. I've got my family and that makes me happier than Hallmark cards and a pair of socks ever could.

My 7 month-old bought lunch (somehow), bless him. Cheers wee man
