So I went to play Metro 2033 and it froze and said "direct3d 9 initialization error" so I did the whole Ctrl + Alt + Delete to stop it but then I got "Cannot display this screen mode"

I restarted the PC and tried to startup as normal but I got "Cannot display this screen mode" again, so I went into Safe mode and tired uninstall Metro 2033 to see if that would help but it didn't :(

Anyone got any ideas?? because I just keep getting "Cannot display this screen mode" anytime I try to startup the PC in Normal mode

Sounds like a driver issue since you can boot to safe mode. I'd uninstall the video card drivers in safe mode, download driversweeper to nuke all traces of the existing one.

You should be able to boot into normal mode and reinstall the latest drivers.

Ok I'll uninstall the Graphics card drivers but I don't think I can get on the internet while in Safe Mode

Its not an absolutely essential step, uninstalling should be enough to get back into normal mode windows and reinstall GPU drivers.

If that doesn't work then definitely give driver sweeper a go.

I turned it back on and it started repairing itself so I'll see what happens there
