Screw keeps loosening after cycle

    I have Stroker Hayes Ryde brakes on my hybrid.

    The brake levers have a "lever reach adjustment screw", and for some reason, after I cycle 25km or so, one of the adjustment screws keeps loosening (or tightening, maybe?), reducing the reach, to the point braking is almost ineffective as it's hitting the brake lever body.

    The other brake is fine. Odd that this is happening. So I was thinking of using something like loctite or something, though I do not have any and I don't want it super tight.

    Any alternative suggestions?

    Try a bit of super glue, it holds well but its more brittle than loctite which makes it easier to undo.

    I've come across this a few times in the past, I don't think super glue is the answer :eek:
    Self wicking (green) Thread Loc would be the best thing for the job but is hard to get and very expensive but your LBS may have some if they work on high end wheels other wise blue Thread Loc from your local hardware store will do the job but you will need to remove said article to apply it to the threads which is not a big deal I suppose.
    Both allow removal with ordinary hand tools if need be.



    I'm too lazy to go looking for the actual numbers of the Thread Locs but the colours should help you if you want to find them!

    Thanks. I don't mind buying some cos I own a 2 bicycles and 2 motorbikes, so will get plenty of use.

    Looks good to me, I would go with the medium strength, I'm sure you could find it closer to home though.
    I bought some online a few weeks ago and it came with SIX A4 pages of warnings, must be nasty stuff!
    I just drank it anyway:D
