Its 418am my forehead feels like its badly sunburned, just an average day for me. About 2 years ago I developed a burning feeling on my forehead and neck, after tests and scans I was told id chronic migraine. Every day of my life I have it, tbh for a long while I've stayed positive thinking im young (27) and people have to deal with worse, as I lie in my bed I just can't believe I've managed to deal with this..

I've come to terms with my illness, but I've noticed in the last two years I sometimes avoid people, i isolate myself when i feel pain. How do you manage your illness to ensure its not taking over your life ?

Hi Sally, I don't suffer from migraine but did you ever try chiropractic treatment.? My wife gets great results and relief for her migraine. She goes to a chiropractor locally and gets her neck adjusted which helps the pain.

Sorry to hear about your little one.

Mine started Dec 2011, I remember clearly, around christmas this weird burning on my forehead and around my eye like acid...I went to the doctor and a few more times, got blood tests which were all 100% fine, they looked for any infection and b12 levels..After that I got an MRI which was clear.

Then they said it was neurological, so I got an appointment with a private Dr Rutledge in the hermitage clinic. He knew straight away it was migraine. But at the time I wasn't sure because I didn't get traditional migraine, just the burning like sun burn, no headaches at all.

For about 4 to 6 months it was constant, then it got a bit better after seeing him, he put me on Amitriptyline, it's an antidepressant which actually does something to the brain that stops pain getting transmitted. Tablets take about 4 weeks to work - started on 25mg for afew months, then 50mg and now 75mg.

I still have it everyday maybe every second if im lucky, I cope I guess with it, the worst part is that you are living with pain and no one really notices, can be very lonely, but I have my own methods to relax and recover.

What triggered it: I believe it all started because I started running and eating really poorly for about 6 months, lost alot of weight fast and i was very slim anyway...Whatever it changed in me this feeling has never left.

The body is a weird thing, your little one could just woke up one morning and it will be gone forever.

I see Ruttledge too and I have to admit he has been wonderful so far. He seems to have a real interest in his patients.

Hi Sally, just wondering how you are getting on? Has your illness improved at all.. My daughters now up to 40mg Amitryptiline a day, as even though she got some respite over the summer, starting secondary school has kicked off chronic migraine cycle again.. I just wanted to say that she tried acupuncture, biofeedback, allergy testing and psychotherapy, none of which helped at all, but what has been a huge help was neuro physiotherapy, it focuses on the head neck and shoulder areas... It might be worth a try..
    Take care MM
