Yes I agree, if overhyped chunks of cast metal are your thing, personally I'd prefer a precision forged club that doesn't compromise too much on looks.

I couldn't give a sh1t if my clubs are made from the carcass of a mute orangutan, all that matters is the results.....

You can buy into the marketing BS by convincing yourself forged = quality if you like....

I recently switched to R11's, really love the feel of them and am one happy camper.

Forged is not better than cast.

    Two can play that game.

Back to the original question. I loved the love of the burner 2.0 when they came out. Always wanted to pick up a set and still might one day if I find a set on the cheap.

Burner plus are a great set of irons and have made a massive difference to my game with distance and ball-striking. Can't vouch for the 2.0's :)

Also, burner plus are the iron of choice of the current boards.ie society golfer of the year leader. All these wannabe's with their mizuno's can talk all they like. Real winners use the burner plus :D

my 2c on the burner plus's. they are a great set of irons and in my opinion they are more forgiving than the 2.0's (i believe that is the intention). I mulled over the decision of going with the burner plus's or the cobra s3's for ages.

I tested both out as much as i could (even rented the burners). in the end i went with the cobras and i am very happy with them, although I dont think you can make a bad decision either way. the main thing for me was the weight and rigidity of the burners that didn't suit my swing. looks wise it's fairly close.

the Mizunos are a fine brand of club from what i hear online but i have never played a full round with them.

lastly, haggle like f*ck with the salesman. good luck, let us know what you go with.

I grabbed a set of Burner 2.0's last year, moved from a set of Mizuno MP's which were considered the TOP iron of the mid 00's.

I never got along with them, and absolutely love my Burners. I always had a love affinity with my Taylor Made RAC's so that swayed the decision and I'm happy with it.

Granted I'd probably like to have a stiffer shaft in them ( Taylor Made OEM shafts are always poor for choice imo) I think they are a smashing iron.

It's nearly impossible to recommend someone an iron, its about preference. As I said I went and a set of Mizunos on recommendations from a coach and good reviews. Was advised that it would emphasise my good ball striking and help me get even lower ( was off 6 at the time). My game fell backwards and what was always good iron play got messy. I just didn't like the Mizuno range of irons, probably different now though.

I think there is enough demo days and shops with decent facilities that you can try out a few different things.

But if your after personal opinion, I guess I'll always recommend Taylor Mades, I think they just make some of the best irons in golf. Heard fantastic things about the Titelist range aswell, my Da picked up a custom fit set last year on an impulse, and striking the ball as well as I have ever seen

Think I'm going to go with the burner plus, I have rang American golf in cork and McGuirks in airside and both have them for €350. Has anyone both anything from either store and how good were they to deal with?

McGuirks in airside sorted me out with a Titleist Rescue there few weeks back, got it order in from manafacturer.

Store manager is nice and very approachable and the sales staff are good aswell. Don't be put of by them being youngfellas. I know two of them from junior golf, and they have been working for McGuirks for years, know their ****.

No idea about them but I picked up a set of Wilson D-100 irons. Game improver irons. I hit the ball better but not consistently yet. When I connect with them the ball travels a lot and gets a nice bit of air for the mid to high irons.

Worth checking out also. I got em custom fitted for 350.

Are you saying they have a big head, or have no feel?

Its not just that they have no feel, its actually harsh hitting them.
