Isnt it written in the roofbox specs? Afaik, its like 120kph usually, though I know someone that "tested" one upto 200kph. It starts to vibrate..

Should be a sticker with it on it and if not keep to 120 or below .

thanks for the replies. its still in the the box so haven't seen any documentation that came with it.

just didn't know if I could do 120. heading west next week.

Judging from others I have seen driving with roof-boxes, max is somwhere around 60kph. Less if there is a "Baby-on-Board" sticker. Those things really kill your top speed.

You'd also want to check the max speed of the racks footing the box.

How fast? Only one way to find out.
Once you see it bounce along the road in your rear view mirror, then you know to go slower than that next time...

    The posted speed limit.

Make sure everything is well secured before moving off the first and maybe stop after a few km's to make sure everything is still secure.

It's not that pretty when it happens.
In France a few years ago
And about 20km from the Ferry there was a NI reg Audi with the box off and the clothes getting a good airing on the road ! It didn't look like a nice start to a holiday.

Mine is self-tested to 140 for long distances and 160 for short bursts. :)

Got it from someone else so didn't know there was a limit.

It feels very solid on the roof so I would just make sure it's fitted correctly with no movement and not worry about the speed. They have an aerodynamic shape so there's not much force on them.

Make sure you have the correct bars and connections for your car.

The extra wind noise is a bit off-putting at first.

OK got my Answer by opening the box and reading the docs...130 kmh.

next question..... I fit the bars. do the u bolts go up through the box and attach it to the bars.
pictures don't always represent a thousand words...they just generate questions:)

The U-bolts are bolted inside the box.
