If you are Teaching Council registered, can a school employ you in any teaching subject, even if that's not what TC has you registered for, without loss of pay under Section 30?

I don't know the correct answer to your question but I have heard that CoDubVEC will not pay the qualified rate if you're unqualified in the subject. Other employers might be the same. I also heard however that the computer system in CoDubVEC doesn't allow them to pay the same person two different rates; i.e. they will treat you as either qualified or not qualified depending on the majority of your teaching hours.

I know of two other VECs who will not pay the qualified rate either. I don't know about the department, though. I've only ever taught subjects I'm qualified in.

If this is the case, I would recommend that anyone working under those conditions joins a union. I can't imagine either union would be ok with someone being paid the unqualified rate for a subject they are qualified in due to technical limitations.
