Why not ring your insurance company and get a rep to call out to you.I do it here every 2 years .At least when they are in the yard they can see what is going on .If you are going to do this write down your questions as you think of them,That way when they call you have your homework done.

Hi I have a digger and a few bits I am thinking of hiring them out if any lads want the use of them. My question is do I need any special type of insurance and if anyone is caught on a main road with no insurance after I hire my stuff to them what happens. thanks

Great idea. Got a lime spreader out on hire this year, fantastic to be able to do it when want to. Anyone got stuff for hire in Cork area?

anytime I have seen machinery rented, it was the responsibility of the hirer to figure out he insurance bit. what happened in practice was the hirer transferred the insurance from one of this machines to the rented machine for the time period in question

You cant just ask a guard ,will he put it in writing for you .If you rent a machine to a 3rd party and someone gets hurt you could find yourself in court .You need to be fully insured and with plant machinery i think the insurance company will check it yearly .
