Hi all, I'm thinking of playing my first open competition, do I need to bring a playing partner so we can mark each others cards or can I just turn up and play on my own? Any advice would be appreciated

You can okay with a friend who is also registered with the GUI. You can mark each others cards then.
You can't mark your own card.

You can book onto a time sheet and play with strangers no problem but with it being your first competition it may be easier for you to have someone you know out with you.

    Enjoy.

Thanks for the advice, I just have to try not to make a show of myself then.

Don't be thinking like that at all. Just step out and enjoy it. And best of luck to you.

Update the score thread and let us know how you get on.
