take boat trip to Cambrils, lovely! Go to Tarragona by bus or taxi, or Barcelona by train. See Nou Camp etc. Lots of places to ramble about, some lovely hotels.

When you get to Salou, try and pick up a wee book called Salou Scene - many of the shops and restaurants and bars have it, it's free, and that's all the info you'll need.
To go to Cambrils you can walk down to the end of the pier and the glass bottomed boat leaves there a few times a day. Usually English speaking staff, and trip takes about half an hour across. Or you can take the Plana bus (stops all over Salou), and Cambrils is only up the coast. It's a fishing village, some nice shops and sea food restaurants. The boat is very relaxing with lovely views of Salou. There are many other sea trips, you'll find info kiosks everywhere.
Tarragona is only a short trip away, about 20 mins by bus.
You can go to Barcelona by Plana bus or train, mind the pickpockets in city. See zoo, nou camp, gaudi's works, magic fountain. There are lots of markets etc near Salou, in the mornings.Monday - Salou and Reus; tues - Tarragona and Valls; Wednesday Cambrils; thurs - Tarragona; Friday La Pineda; Saturday Reus; Sunday Bonavista (about €6 round trip on plana buses. The Plana buses are great, if you fancy exploring Reus, or to Portaventura or aquapolis water park. There is also a jeep safari - have never done it, but it's supposed to be great craic.
You can also travel to Andorra, but don't forget your passport, or to Montserrat, a 12th century Benedictine monastery, quite a journey away on Plana buses.
Now that's only some of Salou, I love it, but the Tripadvisor forum I found very helpful with any queries I had. I also found hotel staff to be very good - Las Vegas hotel and Regina Gran where I stayed.

More information here: http://www.justsalou.co.uk/salou.asp Also if you have an odd spare hour, try out the "Wally Trolley" the mini trains that go right round the resort. There are 3 different colours - 3 different routes, but they go all round the area, it's a great way to find your bearings, and have a bit of time out. The full route takes about an hour, just get off where you got on, it's about €3 per trip, Also you can use it to get to Portaventura theme park etc, but a bus might be cheaper, or just walk depending where you are staying.

Definitely go to Barca, so nice there, check out the Dancing Fountains, they are amazing. The Sagrada De Familia is well worth seeing also.

Next door to Uncle Sams is a lovely English run restaurant that is great for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The best place for food in the whole town is The Guinness Tavern.

Hop on the little street train and it takes you all over the place. We done it on a rainy day last year and found some great spots that we never knew of.

    Hi All,

Going to Cambrille park resort on Saturday. Never been to Salou before. I have a question. My little fella is a mad Arsenal fan and they are playing in the FA cup final the day we arrive. match is late enough - 6:30 Spain time, will it be easy to find a place that might be showing it that's also a family friendly spot to eat?

    Thanks,

Go down towards the beach over the railway bridge.
There's a good selection of bars on the right that have reasonable food and will have the match on.
It's possible as well that it might be on the screen in the main bar at the park itself. They were showing all the world cup games last year.

I can recommend Aqua Leon - nice water park with lions and stuff thrown in. better than it sounds

    Also look into Montserrat.
