I've been called up to correct jc higher level English. I only taught covering a sick leave the year after I graduated and didn't get any work the past year as I had a baby. Therein lies the question - I am currently breast feeding a 3 month old. It's exhausting. Would I be mad to even consider it? Advice from people who've done it (and particularly English) would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

It is challenging. Will you have any help with the baba? And someone to go with you to the conference? :)

    Hi Piaf,

Firstly, congrats on the baby! I've corrected JCHL English before and will be doing it this year. Personally, I don't think you should even consider it. There is alot of work involved in correcting this subject. I usually start at 8 and finish at 5, nearly 7 days a week. Not only do you correct/mark it once, but you would have to go back and recorrect some, at the advice of your Advising Examiner. And there's all the running to the post office, posting off scripts to your AE.

I can understand that you might want it for the money/experience but I think you would drive yourself mad. Enjoy your new baby, there is plenty time to correct in the future. Just my advice, good luck with whatever you decide!

Well, daddy can come to the conference but he'll be very busy for July. I have other family members who could help a bit. What do you think? Also does anyone know how many papers I would get and much I'd get paid?

    Hi Saythatagain,

Thanks for the congratulations and the advice. You just confirmed what I had been thinking. I suppose since I had a nightmare about having to leave my baby in September IF I get a job I'll just relax and enjoy the little man for now! I think I had a moment of madness, if I can tidy the place up and get a shower I'm doing well these days!

    Much obliged.

Correcting is a full time job ~ I usually spend from 8-7/8 and it is 7 days as OP said. I'm not doing it this year as like you I have a LO to mind and I'm going to enjoy every minute with him this summer. Maybe next year I'll go back to correcting! My advice enjoy your baby!
