Turbo trainer new wheel

    All

I am thinking of investing in a turbo trainer for the winter months. I understand it is better to use a special rear tyre when using the trainer.

Does it make sense then to have a separate wheel with the turbo trainer tyre already on it and avoid having to change the tyre each time I want o use the trainer

Would a cheap rear wheel with similar cassette suffice and I can use that only when using the turbo trainer? What do other turbo users find works for them

    Cheers

I would defo look to buying a spare wheel and putting a Turbo Tyre on it.

I spent last winter taking off the Road Tyre and swapping Turbo tyre and swore that next winter to get a proper wheel....it was a messy job and got lazy and left Turbo on mostly which stopped me just jumping on bike to get in a few miles on the road should the weather look good!!

Thanks Masala, that is what I was thinking, so, I need budget in the cost of a wheel and tyre for the turbo trainer. I presume once the cassette matched up with my road wheel there would be no issues i.e. 10 speed with 10 speed

Ya.... will be dropping down to LBS and see if he has any spares for my bike... wont be paying more that €40 for it...so there will be a good bit of haggling. I presume he would have a few damaged / crashed bikes etc that might have a good rear wheel that could be sold on!!
