CCH Taxpack Software (Foreign income issue)

Hi. Just wondering does anyone else use Taxpack software from CCH for doing Income Tax return each year ?

The software, which does an independent IT calculation, separate to ROS Offline. Sadly, even after numerous complaints to CCH, the system still fails to calculate the tax credit on foreign income correctly.

Taxpack simply treats foreign tax paid as a straight tax credit. No allowance is taken into accounts for the fact that the tax credit for foreign tax paid can never exceed the Irish tax payable on the same income.

Has anyone else complained to CCH in regards to their software and have gotten a satisfactory response. Our firm is paying sizeable fees each year for this software and yet such obvious flaws in their software is constantly being ignored.

We've had numerous problems with Taxpack in the past. So many times it has calculated liabilities wrongly. It has got to the stage that if the computation is in anyway complicated, it is as easy to play it safe.

Save a ROS file (.f11), open it up in ROS Offline and get that programme to do the comp for you.

We've numerous faults in the programme over the years. Most notably USC and PRSI being calculated incorrectly. However, this foreign income issue is an on going problem since the programme was launched and has still not been fixed. Ridiculous.
