    Hi everybody

Like many I am in the process of handing in my CV to schools in the hope something will come up. I was just wondering if there is any point in handing in a CV to VEC schools, as the VECs have a substitution list?

    Thanks!:)

I always drop CVs into the VEC schools (aswell as sending one to the HR section of the VEC), the reason being that if a principal wants someone at short notice they will check their CVs - it saves them having to ring the HR department, HR ringing the candidate(s), HR ringing back the school and then (possibly) the principal ringing the candidate.

I got a three month job in a VEC school by sending a CV into the office. At the cost of a stamp, it's worth doing cause worse that can happen is they'll ignore it...

Yeah or you'll get a generic email from the school telling you that all applications for substitution must go through the vec be because of section 30. I find this funny that even though I include my vetting and registration. They could still look at it.

    Thanks!

I Can't actually complete the generic vec form because I haven't my teaching Council number yet. I'm an nqt and am waiting for the Council to send out an offer to register, which they said they won't be doing til July. I think I'll post my CV and hope for the best!

You can write pending and then send on the registration number when you get it . If you've a copy of the letter from the council saying they received your documents , send in a copy of that :)

Yeah I was considering that, but thought they might just bin the application, but no harm in trying I suppose. I signed a form saying that my results from college could be sent straight to the TC and even though they were out last week, apparently we have have to wait for an invitation to apply for registration along with forms to fill in, which all have to be sent back. These will be sent out in July At this stage I say it will be August before everything is finalised.

They usually hang on to them . I was the same with Cavan VEC when I just finished up. I sent whatever I had in and received a letter telling me to send in the reg letter when I had it .

    That's what I'll do so.

    Thanks!:)
