The USB DTT sticks have no processing or Codecs. The Android tablets mostly don't have the compatible kind of H.264 codec. There are other issues too.

Even if you did have a Driver, an Application etc, it probably would only manage SD, the HD needs more than 4 times the processing power. Also video for Mobile devices is Progressive, all the transmissions are Interlaced. Needs more cpu power. TV sets and Setboxes use dedicated HW not in any Android device and PCs / laptops that are able to do RTE2 are using much much more powerful graphics GPUs and CPUs than in any Android gadget.

    +1

I've an older laptop that can show the SD channels easily but RTE2 HD is touch and go. And fingers crossed they'll bring the second Mux in and more channels will go HD.

This android app lists some dongles but doesn't mention Digital TV even though the dongles can be used for that on a decent PC

have a look at this one.
support is awful , but it works if you can install the correct drivers for your DVB-T USB device.

    Whats wrong with Filmon.tv?

thats a great service, but 3G or Wifi are required.
using the DVB-T dongles doesnt need £g or Wifi but it uses the signals already transmitting in the air....

Is this used here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrated_Mobile_Broadcast ?

Integrated Mobile Broadcast (iMB) is a mobile wireless technology that enables broadcast of content (such as live television) at the cellular transmitter level, using the 3G or 4G licenced radio spectrum, and received on mobile terminals.

iMB doesn't exist yet anywhere. It would be pay TV if it did and it's more expensive to broadcast than regular DTT. Not HD and hardly SD.

Very few Android tablets and almost no phones will work with SD DTT. Even fewer with HD DTT, and Ireland has no simulcast, as channels go HD there is no SD version. Even in the UK they will phase out SD DTT simulcast copies of HD DTT channels eventually.

10" sets are allegedly available. Though I don't know if they really work with HD channels.

Even Broadband Internet doesn't even have the infrastructure for very many people to even watch broadcast quality SD never mind HD. Don't hold your breath for iMB. It has less chance than DVB-h. Who would pay for it?
