    I need to have a new back door installed and would like to know should
    it open in or out.

    I dont think it matters unless you on a busy road. I have been in houses where they swing both ways. (the doors now, not the owners,lol)

    Open out, the wind can catch it, and if is an exposed site the door will damage the hinges.
    Open in is less dangerous, especially if you have ''little people''

    Didnt think about the wind thing, good thinking batman but its still legal to have a door opening outside , isnt it ?

    Yes, most french doors are outward opening.

    The wind issue is a factor but you can design in solutions to minimise risks such as door stops, bolts etc.

    The most obvious place an outward opening door can cause (legal?) Issues is when it opens upon an escape route from fire .
