According to Philips own literature the TV has a DVB-T2 tuner. DVB-T2 uses MPEG-4 video decoding by default, MPEG-4 decoding is the standard used for Saorview so it should be OK for Saorview reception.

Any current model from a big-name maker will work. Things have moved on in the past couple of years.

Be careful. Saorview compatibility is not just about MPEG 4 decoding. It should have MHEG 5 and Ireland as a country option. If it doesn't you could end up with channels in the 800'S, clock problems in the summer, and EPG problems.

Tesco Ireland are still selling incompatable TVs so don't assume anything, and as said you should only buy 100% compatabile Saorview TVs. Other 99% compatable models might be cheaper, buy you get what you pay for.

If you already have purchased the TV then it would probably work, but in general it is not recommended, even if only using the TV for UPC or Sky at the moment.
