Towing load max for license

    On a normal b category license is the maximum weight your allowed to tow 3.5 tons behind your car or is it 3.5 tons combined weight of trailer and car?

    3.5 tonnes combined, but the car has have a DGVW of more than the trailers DGVW.

    It also depends on when you got the licence, new rules where brought in recently.

    DGVW = Design Gross Vehicle Weight, it's the weight of the vehicle, or trailer, plus it's max load.

    It doesn't matter what the load is the plated weight is what the laws based on, so you can't tow a 2 tonne trailer with a car even if the trailer is empty
