Going to Melbourne next week can any-one recommend a course to play while there apart from Royal Melbourne

One of the great golf cities.

Why not Royal Melbourne? It and Kingston Heath are world class layouts.

But if you want a cracking course that flies under the radar somewhat, try St Andrews Beach on the Mornington Peninsula.

    What golf course is that?

I can't recall ever seeing such horrible bunkering on a hole.

its in melbourne, not sure of the name. My nephew played it there last year.

There was 15 bunkers in total - he said it was ridiculous.

Dead Jealous. I played there about 16 years ago and its a true joy to play. Greens are the hardest I ever played on, firmness, speed and slope. I remember walking off a green thinking "I hit FOUR really good putts there"

Long shot but I have a mate going out to Melbourne and he wondered about decent members clubs in the sand belt area of the city.

I looked at a few courses and the membership fees reminded me of Dublin back in the boom years.

    Anyone with any info?

Played there in the late 90's and it was absolutely wonderful and savage at the same time. Fastest and most inclined greens I ever played on. Quite possible to 4 putt from 20 ft and still be muttering to yourself "those were 4 bloody good putts".
Had a chance to play Potsea and Yarra Yarra but was only there for 5 days and not enough time. Between Waterskiing, Oz tennis Open, Oz v SriLanka in the Cricket, a stag party and the actual wedding I couldn't fit it all in.
When I look back on it, for sports enthusiasts (participants and spectators) you'd be hard pushed to better Melbourne.

Without a shadow of a doubt, he wants to look at this one... One of the best courses in Australia with cheap as chips membership:

Looking at it now, cheers for this.

From the little research i have done, bearing in mind I really like looking at different courses around the world, the quality of courses in Melbourne looks amazing. Really top notch.

Apparently courses not in the sand belt area, the east side of the city struggle with flooding, somethimes flash flooding. Never really expected that in Melbourne!
