Croke Park Packages - single match

I apologise in advance if this has been asked before, I've tried a search and cannot find the info I need.

My father in law has been a lifelong football fan and used to go to any game he could get to. Sadly he's not fit for sitting at the likes of Casement these days and gets his fix by shouting at the TV instead.

As he's 80 this year, I was thinking of a match day package for Croke Park but from what I've read on their website, I don't see anything except for the Premium level tickets and the suites. Neither of these options are really practical however.

I'm sure there used to be a museum tour/match ticket combination for about €170 or so but cannot find any mention of this.

I'd really appreciate it if anyone would suggest something appropriate and which is a little bit special?

    Thanks a million.

How's about an overnight stay in the Croke Park Hotel, possible family dinner and a match the following day. I assume yer FIL is up north and a stay overnight in Dublin would be a little special ?

Thanks for the suggestion. A hotel and meal would probably be wasted on the aul fella as he thinks "all that's a waste of money" (it wouldn't matter whether I put baked beans, mash spud or caviar on the table, it's all just fuel to him :)) hence the reason I was thinking of a tour and match.

    Yes, he's up in Belfast.

Ah youse Nordies are hard to please :D. There is no full stadium tour on match days, but the Museum is open ... details http://www.crokepark.ie/GAA-Museum---Tours/Visit-Us/Match-Days

Match tickets should be handy enough come by through official channels or the reseller - SuperValu, Ticketmaster etc.

The stadium tour really is worth doing, but as another poster said, they don't do it on match days, for obvious reasons. The museum is open, but that's about it. How about over nighting it in Dublin, and doing the stadium tour either the day after or the day before the game?

Was there a particular match you were planning on bringing him too? If you stay in one of the traditional match day hotels such as the Croke Park Hotel or the Gresham, or one of the hotels where the teams stay before big games, there is usually a really great atmosphere there, the night before and the day of the game. With all the players, supporters, and press and hangers on milling about, it's a much more fun place to be the morning and afternoon before the game, than sitting in a car on the motorway worrying about traffic and parking.

Try and get a ticket for the premium or the box. There is an elevator and escalator up to the levels instead of walking and these seats are fairly sheltered in comparison to the rest of the stadium. Can get your dinner and a pint up there as well so its a good day out.
You might pick up a premium off local businesses or banks and normally there is a few going spare on toutless.com for matches which draw a smaller crowd.

Some good suggestions there folks. I'm more Nordie than most, given I come from Scotland but I'm a long time convert to GAA.

The premium or box sounds like the way forward. A lift is probably a good idea.
