    Hi Folks

Wife is looking at buying a 07 316i.
She looked at one and likes it but just one thing with it. There is a problem with the fuel gauge. The seller tells us its out by quarter a tank. so when you have quarter a tank on the gauge it is actually empty.
The miles left on the on dash are correct though, or as close as they usually are.
Anyone ever come across it? Waiting for our mechanic to have a look but thought I might throw it out here.

Say it got a new fuel pump in the tank and the float isn't reading right either that or the clocks need recalabration. But my guess would be its down to the reading from inside the tank

    Cheers-expensive fix you reckon?

It should be easy to pull the pump and see is the pot reading correctly on it. Or someone with inpa will be able to read the raw value from the cluster and read it that way.

You could also run a gauge test on the cluster and see does the needle sweep correctly, from one side to the other. There should be a combination of buttons which will start the couster test.

    Why an 07 316i?

If it's pre LCI then it's so underpowered that it's slow and thirsty, and if it's got the start stop gubbins, it will hardly use any fuel as it will be in the garage having a nox sensor, coil or injector replaced.

    She won't listen to reason
