Exhaust pipe fell off my car

Ok so I am driving home this morning and I hear something scraping the ground underneath my car straight away I pulled over 50 yards down the road and I see the that another driver stopped his car and removed my exhaust pipe from the road and put it on the footpath where I got it back and put it in the boot, having got home I looked under the car and it seems to have rotted away and just fell off, its the last bit of the exhaust a few inches of pipe and a box that fell off, the car is louder as a result but not as loud as I would have thought, its a fiat punto 00D and it seems to have broken off just going over a bump in the road although there was a rattle for a few days before.

At this moment I can not afford to get this repaired so is it safe to drive for short distances, also how much can I expect to pay to put this right, I don't mind doing a bit of DIY but I don't think I would be able to do this, lastly I am in Dublin 12 can you recommend a decent place to bring it to be fixed as cheaply as possible.

Thanks in advance for any help received.

Advance Pitstop are very good for this sort of thing, and not very expensive either IIRC.
