Diesel car reliable

Hi I'm buying a new car soon budget of 4500-6500 preferably a diesel 05+ Was looking at Peugeot 407 they're cheap and some lovely specs. New shape mondeos Passat Volvo s40 Ford focus Just wondering what You's taught of those cars and what car would I get best mpg and reliability out of thanks guys

if you are looking at any 1.6's make sure they have a good service history or they could end up breaking your heart/wallet
