    You're not unemployed, you're a student.

To claim the dole you need to be finished college.

You can apply for a grant, or if you're a mature student the BTEA (but you will have to have already been on the dole). But you can't claim the dole.

    Ok thanks for the replies.

Another question. If your in collage trying to get a degree, to get a job and contribute to the state, why can't you get the dole to support yourself, when there are people who did there leaving aren't doing any further education aren't working and aloud get the dole.

    How us that fair.

You can get a part-time job like so many of the rest of us did.

    Hi mate,

It's a stupid system, I wanted to go to college but just can't afford it, I was actually told by my maths teacher to go on the dole because i'd be entitled to free college and free courses..

He was absolutely right, I had to wait a year on the dole but I have so far done 2 ecdl courses, a jobs initiative course and a music technology course and now waiting to get back into college.

My cousin went to sign on as she left school and then went to college, They kept her on but only give her 136 a month, If she stayed home and did f.all she'd be entitled to atleast 400 a month, It doesnt make sense to me but there ya go...

This isn't a forum to discuss the fairness of the SW system. Original question has been answered. Thread locked.
