I've started to read Freud's Totem & Taboo & see it's dealing with the same themes explored by Engels in Origin of the Family & Durant's Story of Civilization, basically touching on themes of marriage, incest, totem, etc... etc... but in the context of historical case studies, however all of this material is at least 100 years old & just a random quote from google shows that, just on the topic of totem, in 1920 there were "more than forty different theories of the phenomenon".

Would anyone know a good place to read up on these kinds of things, like a good textbook, that would take into account as much as is discussed in the above books as possible, preferably multiple references or really just anything that would be helpful cool.png
