We're looking to transport our dad across the country after a partial hip replacement. We need to hire some kind of vehicle with suitably high seats, or with wheelchair space. And something that will keep him someways comfortable over 200+ miles! Any advice on what to go for??

    Hi,

From personal experience you would be better off with a wheelchair accessible van/taxi. No matter how comfortable you make your Dad he is going to be very very stiff and sore after a 200 mile journey. I would recommend plenty of stops if possible as that type of trip without stopping will cause him agony (again personal experience). Even if they are only stops where he stands up from his seat for a few minutes it will help him.

I can't really recommend anyone but found this site http://www.wheelchairtaxi.ie/ hopefully its of some use to you.

    All the best.
