It's a little more expensive than a Steinhart, and there is a waiting time but I'd prefer Stowa to Steinhart

    Or a little cheaper

I'm reverting to type and recommend some Russian handwind chronos perhaps?

Both are available in slightly different styles/colours also

Is there any objective reason for that - just out of curiosity?

There is nothing wrong with what Steinhart do, Stowa are just on another level.

I think even the pictures of the faces show this.

I'm interested in this because I have a Steinhart and am thinking of getting a Stowa but don't see that much of a leap looking at the two - I mean, when looking at similar price points specifically, obviously. The Stowa above is in a smaller case so maybe looks neater because of that, but everything else appears pretty much the same?

I don't know if it's just the picture but look at the print on both.

It's supposed to be a subtle watch and yet Steinhart appears to be using a bold print on it, Stow is a lot more refined looking.

The finish of the Stowa case is also going to be a lot better. It's finished in house with Stowa along with the decoration.

A;so, having dealt with both companies I know which one I prefer, Steinhart are great when they actually get back to you but I was on the verge of cancelling my order when they finally replied to say that it would be shipping soon. Stowa on the other hand are always very quick to respond, and you have the backup of knowing that if there is anything you're not happy with you can converse directly with the owner. There was a whole thread on WUS dedicated to Steinharts poor responses.

Steinhart makes great watches with fantastic prices, I will definitely buy from them again but I think there are compromises made with quality. A lot of people have problems for instance with bezels not lining up correctly with their diver models. Those kind of things just very rarely happen with Stowa, their QC is a lot higher as is their standard in general.

Would have to agree with this. I have also dealt with both and while I had to wait for both watches (longer for the Stowa) I could get no information from Steinhart except after getting quite annoyed with them I got an email reply saying I could cancel my order and they would refund me if I wished (all I wanted was an idea of when my watch would arrive). Stowa on the other hand were just very easy to deal with, changing things with the order was not an issue and if there was a delay they let you know how long they expected it to be.
