Chicks and Peanut Butter

I can't help but notice that Rás na mBan (women-only international cycle race) is going to be down around Lisdoonvarna at exactly the same time as the Lisdoonvarna Match-Making Festival. John B Keane himself wouldn't dare to make it up. :D

Well the potential for agricultural amorous Armageddon has just been ratcheted up a few notches with the announcement of two teams coming over from the States.

"Peanut Butter & Co Human Zoom" (the name doesn't exactly trip off the tongue, and they should have said "Wheelers" or something at the end :D).

    And

    These guys..... The "Ritte Chicks"
    ritte-cycling.jpeg
who judging by their facebook pics and their stated raison d'etre to "to spread the joy of cycling and win fans to the sport", should certainly bring a splash of colour to the event.

I really want to be there when they're greeted in Lisdoon...:pac:

Erm, thats's a man, man!? At least the dude on the floor is. That shot is not of the Ritte Women's Cycling Team, but a promo shot for Ritte bikes featuring 2 models.

Personally I find your post a bit more  than :D

It seems you're right. I did some research into my own post and I was shocked to discover that your man isn't from Lisdoonvarna either. He's from Doolin:mad:

Here are some of the Ritte Women with pants on

Love the gear and the bike colour schemes I must say. "Belgian" and "cool" don't always go together, except in cycling...

@ niceonetom Yep, yes it is, seeing as they are actually on the team!

    Seriously lads?!!!

WTF? Pointless thread. What are you? 15? Thanks for confirming one of the reasons more women don't take up cycling.

Mate, you're implying that the other picture is of the Ritte Women without pants on! When, as I pointed out already, it's a glamour model and a bloke.

    This time, actually :D

    Yep. Seriously.

But before any umbrage is taken we should all acknowledge that the usual victims of the leers and dribblings of the diverse pervs of this board are the poor males of the pro peleton. Exhibit A. Exhibit B. And I'm sure we can all agree that those girls above are some badass racers, but when it comes to sex appeal they are no Berie Eisel.

To be fair Bernie is a smashing looking bloke. But for sheer hawt on a bike then you can't beat PhilGil.

Peanut Butter & Co. Human Zoom club / team

From their website they look to be a pretty regular club. Pretty cool for them to be coming over here for a stage race. I can't imagine it happens the other way around much, a regional Irish club participating in an international stage race in the States.

Where is that coming from? I think I know more women who cycle than any other sport (tag rugby comes next, then hockey...)

I would have thought that not a lot of women-only races was one of the larger hurdles, which has actually been jumped in the last few years with the national league, orwell crit and corkagh park summer league.

Hopefully there will be a few open spots for me to wrench in come September, I'd like to witness at least one Ras na mBan.

Completely different ethos behind the image of that female model (created, staged) naked of shorts (ffs) to the images of your mancrushes in the sauna/ cycling.

Here's the Rás na mBan website with news of the American teams

Yeah, one's hot, the other's just fun (which one is which is up to you to decide, though I suspect that Sagan in the Sauna is a created and staged shot -doubt he usually wears his shorts in there)

Me neither. Seems to be a nutty cycling trend in the States though. Wasn't past winner Olivia Dillon with the Wonderful Pistachios team?

It's not like modelling is going to turn women off cycling, it has nothing to do with cycling as a sport and isn't something we see often. I like seeing women who cycle, purely because most women I know spend most of their time sitting on their arse, applying makeup for 3 hours and doing nothing else. I have the utmost respect for female cyclists simply for the fact they're cycling. It's also a breath of fresh air from seeing men in lycra shorts. A quick glance while keeping to myself isn't a crime, then again the rare occasion of seeing a woman cycling is kept short as I usually end up staring at their bike more so than anything else. There was also the time I was behind a woman on a racer with aero bars, delighted I was able to keep up on my hardtail even though I knew she wasn't putting much effort in.

That said, I like seeing women modelling around cycling. Who wouldn't like seeing women model around something they enjoy personally? I'm just glad they're not posing with bikes looking for attention like a lot of female "gamers", these girls are actually on a team. I can't even say the same for myself.

Women probably won't share my opinion of the Wiggle Honda team for example, but that's fine by me. I most likely wouldn't care much for a picture of the men's team someone else likes but that's just how it is. And on that note, every single one of these ladies would leave me for dust.

What I liked the most about this post is how you successfully navigated a potential minefield and managed to say nothing that could possibly offend or upset anyone.

It's a touchy subject, if I didn't offend anyone I'd be surprised as I have an awful habit of doing so. It's highly likely people will disagree with me, then again I'm a 21 year old immature bloke who likes to ride a bike. If anyone disagrees I'm happy to hear their response.
