    Hello.
I have a high scc dairy cow ( chronic 5 m+) that's 20 wks gone and still in milk but not to tank. What do you reckon is the best method of offloading her. She's in good condition. Mart or factory or should I give her estrumate and fatten. Or other. Ps. I'm not sticking calves under her.

Is it worth fattening cull cows now for a few weeks to send to the factory or just sending them lighter?

better just to have them gone, could get mastitis when dry etc, and anyways they dont thrive for a few weeks after being dried off imo. How much feeding would they need

What price are they getting at the minute in the factory? Have afew ladies in good condition, all probably between the 650 and 750kg mark, we have been sending them to the mart most of the time recently, would I be better off sending them to the factory? I'll admit though I'd prefer avoiding having to split up the group, sending them all off to the mart at the end of the month means job done and out of the way!

if you are sending them to the mart you have to blood them etc, going to the factory theres no need, reduces the cost ... if its a cow thats a bit dodgy on feet etc or wouldnt look great in the mart i factory her
