It's understood the two men in their 50s and 60s, walked from the wreckage and were treated for bruises and cuts.
They have now been taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore, but their injuries are not said to be life-threatening.

The reg is EI-XLA, built in 2005.

It's an Urban Samba XLA, belonged to a private owner. You can find the name in if you look up the reg, dunno if I should put it up here.

Ouch, they had a very lucky escape with that one. Wasn't the best day to be flying tbh.

Have seen much less damaged light aircraft where no-one walked away.

A very lucky escape, hope all involved are OK.

They survived. In the end, that's all that matters.

Those composite builds do seem to have good crash protection compared to older GA aircraft and keep their cockpit shape well in a smash.

Glad to hear they are both OK.

Anyone know the cause of the crash?

Please dont speculate on the cause of the accident please wait for the report to come out by the AAIU.

It should be ok to ask if anyone heard any details on what witnesses saw, etc. No one wants to declare the probable cause at this stage but there seems to be very little information in this case. Facts like

Where exactly did the crash occur?
    Was it landing/taking off?
Was weather bad at the time?
Did any other planes have any problems?

Ireland is a close-knit aviation community so someone will know somethig about it. If they share this then it's not to apportion blame or cause but to serve to educate us all on flying. There's not one incident I read about where I don't learn something new that makes me a safer pilot.

Looks like it crashed heading towards trees and the crash force was spread luckily over a horizontal distance. Probably an engine failure on take off or landing Id say but wait and see in due course.
