Which courier service should I use?

I need to send a large item (guitar in case) from Dublin to Cork asap.

I was googling the various couriers but am unsure who might be the most reliable which led me here.

Does anyone have an idea of what sort of cost it might be?

I see some have flat rates on their sites like parcel2go for example.

Do I need to wrap the item up or will they take it as is as long as I have provided the address?

Would appreciate any advice / suggestions.

The last one is probably the handiest to use.
You are looking at about €20. Not bad for a next day delivery.
If your guitar is in a hard case it should be fine, if canvas it could do with a bit of extra padding, I think most couriers provide the labels for the name and address of recipient that you stick to the package.

Waited a couple of weeks for a packet from Adidas. Checked and found that UPS had it and had failed to deliver as 'the building was not on their register'. They had my phone number and the address (a very simple one) but failed to contact me. They also failed to use GPS or Google maps.
I suspect that if the courier is too lazy or doesn't have any other parcels in the same area, your parcel gets dumped in a corner of the depot.
So, use UPS at your peril.
