    Hi All,
Just wondering what would you recommend to brighten up Solid Oak Floors in the house. They are not really scratched but more gone dull from general walking on them over the past few years.

Sweeping clean doesn't clean them up.

I don't want to put something on them without checking first. What would be a good product that would brighten them up or would they need buffing.

If need buffing can you buy a domestic type one for house use, if so where? Thanks

    Hi Oldstyle1.
By your description of flooring, your floor needs to be revarnishing. As all the indications you have given highlight that the wear layer surface on flooring is worn. It's not as bad as you think. buffing will not work.
Firstly the floor area will need to be sanded with a medium sandpaper, basically what you are doing is roughing up the area to recieve the first coat of varnish. Clean floor with white spirit and hoover. Apply first coat of varnish evenly. Let dry and sand again with a fine sandpaper, hoover and clean with white spirit. When dry varnish again. Apply 3 coats in total.

Its often worth your while to bleach oak back a bit if your revarnishing. it would probably be better off getting someone in to do it though if you dont know what your at.
